Most of Perth hotels are clustered around its coastal Scarborough and Cottesloe areas. There are other less expensive accommodation located farther out in the city, in Perth's quieter suburbs. Visitors coming to Perth can check in at any of the various hotels in the city for short or long-term visits. Some of the hotels are found in the Scarborough and Cottesloe districts, which make them ideal accommodation for surfing and beach holidays. Other hotels are located in the heart of Perth where most of the tourist spots are also located. Visitors can also stay in the suburbs of South Perth where some local residents offer up their homes and apartments for rent.
Student Accommodation
The University of Western Australia has five residence colleges, and they are Trinity College, St. Thomas More College, St George's College, St. Catherine's College, and Currie Hall.
Trinity College, previously known as St. Columba-Kingswood College, is located in the Crawley Campus, which is just a five-minute drive from Perth's city centre. This residence hall offers single motel or twin rooms. It has over 350 students under its wing. Founded in 1955, St. Thomas More College is a co-residential hall beside the main university campus. This Catholic residence hall is 10 minutes away from Perth city and 15 minutes away from the Indian Ocean. St. George's College is one of the oldest residential colleges in the university. It offers single rooms to over 150 female and male students. Currie Hall is located in Winthrop Avenue and is slightly farther than the other residence halls. St. Catherine's College is a 140-bedroom accommodation located just across the university. It has its own library, squash court, tennis court, and several seminar and conference rooms.
Students and visitors are advised to reserve their accommodation months in advance, especially during the holiday season and at the start of the academic year. Hotels can be booked online, while student residences can be reserved by getting in touch with the university administration.
